The Dukan Diet

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

This diet plan was originally close to the hyper protein diet, Dr. Pierre Dukan, a nutritionist specializing in eating behavior, is heavily loaded with protein.

Principle
Very close to the hyper-protein diet, the Dukan diet offers a program in 4 phases rich in protein, low in calories and have the advantage of reducing appetite. Moreover, their assimilation by this organism causes a high calorie and allow weight loss without muscle wasting. The program also provides the following arrangements in order to prevent weight regain during the return to a normal diet. – Attack Phase pure proteins: it eats only protein, ie meat, poultry, fish, seafood, milk 0%. It lasts from 3 to 10 days depending on the desired objective – Alternative Stage: As the attack phase, by adding vegetables. Only ban: starches (potatoes, corn, peas, lentils, beans …). It is the “cruising speed”: the protein is gradually added vegetables. We then alternate these 2 steps until the desired weight (two pounds per week). – Consolidation Phase: Closing long enough to return to normal to avoid the famous “rebound effect” foods are forbidden for them reintroduced gradually. There are 10 days of consolidation kilo lost. – Stabilizing Phase: You eat normally by following two principles: an “Thursday protein” to life and eat 3 tablespoons of bran and oats per day.

Thus, the energy needed by the body is derived from fat stores. According to some nutritionists the protein diet is more effective, avoiding getting the rebound and lose weight quickly. A protein diet achieved a weight reduction of between 7 and 10 kg in just 4 weeks.

Disadvantages of the diet with protein

A protein diet is a poorly balanced diet that limits consumption of certain foods and therefore cause different side effects, highlighting constipation, hair loss, and halitosis. Weight loss can not be maintained over time and this type of diet should be done under medical supervision.

Anti-inflammatory Diet

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

The so-called anti-inflammatory diet is actually a lifelong diet that provides health and helps to control weight.

The anti-inflammatory diet has recently gained popularity in the U.S. and some authors have identified it as a variation of the Mediterranean diet. The goal of this diet is to combat so-called diet foods due to inflammatory procesadis: rich in omega-6 fatty acids but low in omega-3.

Inflammation in the body leads to poor health and eating to avoid constant inflammation promotes better health and can ward off disease.

Diseases such as arthritis or appendicitis are due to some type of inflammation. But cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, including Alzheimer’s disease may be triggered in part by inflammation.

In general, an anti-inflammatory diet should follow these guidelines:

* Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
* Minimize consumption of saturated fat and trans fats.
* Eat a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish or fish oil supplements and walnuts.
* Monitor the intake of refined carbohydrates like pasta and white rice.
* Eat plenty of whole grains such as rice and bulgur wheat.
* Make lean protein sources like chicken, moderate consumption of red meat and fat dairy foods.
* Avoid refined foods and processed foods.

Advocates say such diets may reduce cardiovascular disease and rheumatoid arthritis
